Lucknow, September 1, 2025 – The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) successfully hosted the Sports Summit – Uttar Pradesh Chapter today at Renaissance Hotel, Lucknow. Themed “Uttar Pradesh: Emerging Powerhouse in India’s Sports Landscape,” the event brought together leading voices from sports, government, and industry to deliberate on the state’s growing role in India’s sports ecosystem.
The summit commenced with addresses from Mr. Ashok Dhyanchand, Co-Chair, FICCI Uttar Pradesh Sports Committee, Arjuna Awardee & former Indian Hockey player, and Ms. Rachna Govil, Co-Chair, FICCI Uttar Pradesh Sports Committee, Arjuna Awardee & former Executive Director, Sports Authority of India.
The event also witnessed the participation of eminent personalities including Mr. Anandeshwar Pandey (Secretary General – UP Olympic Association), Mr. D.S. Chauhan (Chairman – UPT20 & Director – UPCA), Mr. Jaspal Rana (Secretary General – UP Karate Association), Mr. Vidushpat Singhania (Managing Partner – Krida Legal), Mr. Vinay Pandey (Secretary General – UP Squash Racquets Association), Mr. Abhishek Chowdhary (Sports Medicine Doctor – KGMU Lucknow), Mr. Prithijit Das (President – Inter Kashi), Mr. Lalit Upadhyay, Olympian & Indian Hockey Player, and Mr. Apurv Gupta (Head, Combat Sports – Capri Sports), who actively contributed to the deliberations.

These stakeholders shared perspectives on infrastructure development, youth engagement, and the corporate role in shaping Uttar Pradesh’s sports roadmap.
The roundtable discussion stressed the importance of corporate involvement in infrastructure, talent scouting, and creating sustainable pathways for athletes.
A report from this summit will be submitted to the respective authorities and stakeholders of Uttar Pradesh’s sports ecosystem. This will culminate into a delegation that will represent the state in the upcoming FICCI Sports Summit – Turf 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi later this year.
